This poem was composed and recited by the poet Zuwena Msellem from Faza Island in the Lamu Archipelago in 2024 as part of her Talking Mats workshop contribution. It talks about the worthwhile usage of mikeka in the life cycle and the daily life of coastal Swahili communities.
